[A Successful Yacht Championship]

A ceremony for the successful hosting of the world boat show and yacht championship was held in front of Seoul city hall. The displayed yachts which will be used in the tournament were especially remarkable.

The yacht to be used for the Korea Match-cup World Yacht Championship from June 11th was exhibited for the first time. Gyeonggi province, which arranged the event wishing for a successful run at the Gyeonggi international boat show and world yacht championship, displayed the G-marine, the official boat of the tournament, which attracted much attention.

Through this boat show, Gyeonggi province will rise as a maritime power in the world with Gyeonggi bay having access to the Yellow sea, China, and eventually, the whole world.

The yacht that displayed was designed by thefamous yacht designer Bekel White and produced by a Korean company in collaboration with a technician team from New Zealand. The Korea match cup is one of the World Match Racing Tourswhich is held in ten different countries every year in the form of a tour and this year will beheld for the first time in Korea. Along with yacht production, a boat show and race has been planned.

Since there is considerable attention drawn to this event, for the last two monthseveryone has been wishing that all the proper preparations will be made in order to host the event successfully.

[Children\’s Safety First]

For those mothers who volunteer for traffic guidance for students on their way to school, the Gyeonggii traffic training institute is offering a series of lectures teaching about the essentials of traffic guidance.

On way to school elementary students talk and even play while they are at the crosswalk. They seem not to notice the cars around the cross walk but passively cross the street when the volunteers hold up the crossing flag.

Small children in elementary schools often gets hurt from small accidents

The Gyeonggi traffic training institute is aiding the Green Mother’s association through child traffic safety and guidance lectures.

we will only be acting as a shelf that upholds the flag so that it won’t swing The mothers listened intently to the lecture and seemed to be getting a lot out of it.

before the lecture, I was taking care of the kids only with theheart of a volunteer, but after the training I got the feeling that I should act as a preventive guide to keep the children out of harms way.

There were more than 3900 traffic accidents that occurred last year in Gyeonggi. Since 2005, the province has strengthened the overall child traffic safety policy and the frequency of incidents has decreased since.

The most important thing of all is to create a situation where safe driving is practiced by every driver. That wayour children would be safer.

[Trees of Hope]

Planting trees isfor the future rather than the present. Gyeonggi province will have one million trees planted this year for the sake of the environment. Tree planting is in full swing around the Ansan lake park. More thanone thousand trees including maples and crape myrtles were planted by members of Saemaeul and enterprise volunteers.

Today, I participated in tree planting. I wish that the trees we planted grow well. Trees play different roles in nature. I think they deserve to be thanked.

The participants read the deposition aloud and let fly balloons with symbols of green house gases prior to the tree planting. The flower pot sharing and various tree caring lectures were well received by the participants.

Green house gases are mainly responsible for global warming and since green house gases are mostly composed of carbon, trees are suitable for the job. Therefore, within Gyeonggi province, we are promoting tree planting near our houses and our work places to campaign for the benefit of all residents.

Gyeonggi has planted 1,250,000 trees last year. And will plant 1-million trees this year putting the tree planting campaign on its way.

[Seniors Guard the Playground]

Recent crimes towards children have caused parents worry. Seniors living nearby stood out to watch out for children on their way home. An elementary school gate at around 1 pm, many parents come out to pick up their kids. After the abduction and murder incidents recently, parents of young girls, especially, feel tense.

I feel uneasy about my daughter. Society now is extremely insecure. The children have beenheading home through via out-of-the-way alleyways. So, seniors volunteered to guard the children.

“You should never follow a person you do not know. “

The senior playground guards are going to see the children on there way back home for three hours every day.

Grandpa and grandma are there to look after us, so it is very relieving and secure. The way home was scary because all my friends’ homes are in the otherdirection. Now, with grandpa and grandma I feel much safer.

They keep a watchful eye on the dim corners around the school. I think we should play an active role in helping our children return home safely. This volunteering is relieving parents\’ uneasiness caused by crimes targeting children.

[Pyeongtaek Bird Flu, Highly-virulent Strain]

The bird flu of the latest outbreak in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, was found to be a highly-virulent strain of the avian influenza virus. This is an alarm to poultry farms nearby.

The National Veterinary Research and Quarantine Service determined that the suspected avian influenza virus at a poultry farm in Pyeongtaek is a highly contagious strain.

In order to prevent the disease from spreading, Gyeonggi province decided to install 12 control gates along the main roads to regulate the movements of cars and livestock. The province also slaughtered 315,000 chickens at the site of the outbreak and eight farms located within a 3-killometer radius of it.

We will distribute compensationas soon as the sum is assessed and confirmed by the poultry farms of Pyeongtaek.

For right now, Gyeonggi province decided to offer 50% of the Living stability fund, 136,000 dollars. Other measures concerning aid for the poultry farms are being considered.

[For a Healthy Life]

The wish to live a long healthy life is everyone\’s dream. There is a place that is helping people suffering from obesity and chronic diseases through regular exercise plans.

Yeontaek Lee, who has been worrying about his health because of diabetes, hypertension, and obesity, is sensing a change in his body after steady exercise planned by the Health promotion center.

Through exercise, my blood pressure and diabetes have improved a lot.On the outside, it looks like a regular fitness center, however, it is a Health promotion center managed by the national health insurance corporation. Anyone with high blood pressure, diabetes or high cholesterol can use the facility for free after undergoing a physical examination.

The membership card issued to each member includes their personal information, the state of their health, and the time theyexercise to manage an effective exercise plan. Additionally, personal custom exercise routines and nutrition advice are also provided.

The participation rate is relatively high. Referencing their health constitution, it is necessary that this policy is extended to the national level.

Although now there only are nine places around the country, including the two in Suwon and Anyang, more people will benefit from this policy and more facilities will be installed.

[Distinguish Buses Now by Color]

It will be easier now to distinguish buses, since they will be sorted into different colors.The ‘Gyeonggi Bus Brand Project’ that has been in operation since last year will come to an end this year. Not only will the buses be more convenient, but they will also look better on the outside.

Regular buses will be green, express busesred, and regular buses blue. These are Gyeonggi buses that are currently classified according to color.

Furthermore, local buses will be yellow and airport buses black. The new designs will make it easier to distinguish buses according to color, plus, the number plate placed on the front will be more discernible.

Moreover, the uniform color poses good effects on the overall appearance of the city. For better quality buses, anti-slipping flooring material, safety poles, and LED display projects are also under way.
