The U.S. Department of Commerce introduced new restrictions aimed at cutting China off from importing semiconductor chips or semiconductor manufacturing equipment that meet a certain set of specification. Presumption of denial applies to Chinese companies, while deals of multinational companies operating in China, including South Korean manufacturers, will be individually deliberated for permission. The South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is committed to staying in close communication with the US counterparts and assisting South Korean business community to handle this challenge.
