2017 Korea International Boat Show Celebrates 10th Anniversary

The Korea International Boat Show, one of the top three boat shows in Asia along with the Dubai International Boat Show and the Shanghai International Boat Show, is being held this year on the largest scale yet.
The application deadline for the 2017 Korea International Boat Show (KIBS) has closed with 261 domestic and foreign exhibitors registered for 1,607 booths, the largest-ever recorded numbers that exceed the sales records of the past three years: 1,030 booths in 2014, 1,370 booths in 2015, and 1,500 booths in 2016.
KIBS, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, is Korea’s representative exhibition of the marine leisure industry. It is jointly held by Gyeonggi Province and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.

The receipt of four international certifications – Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy International Exhibition Certification, US Department of Commerce Certification, International Federation of Boat Show Organisers (IFBSO) Platinum Certification, and Union des Foires Internationales (UFI) Certification – affirm this event as the leading boat show in Korea. Of particular note, KIBS is the only boat show in Asia to receive certifications from the US Department of Commerce, IFBSO and UFI.
This year, KIBS will run from May 25 to 28 at KINTEX in Goyang City and at the Gimpo Ara Marina Exhibition and Experience Center.
A provincial official explained that the active participation of promising domestic and overseas marine leisure companies has contributed to the growth of KIBS, which has made significant progress in consistently pushing its own envelope.

Meanwhile, this year, the increase in the number of manufacturers in Gyeonggi Province among numerous marine leisure businesses bodes well for the event.
The participation of major foreign buyers is also attracting attention. The representatives of more than 90 buyers from 20 countries with purchasing power that has passed rigorous screening – including Senior Purchasing Manager of Watski, the largest marine wholesaler in northern Europe (with more than 1,200 retail outlets, mainly in Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Norway) – will visit Korea to consult with domestic manufacturers on product purchases.
Further information on applications to visit and the exhibition program of KIBS can be found on its official website.
