The ‘2016 Gyeonggi Province Korea-US Holiday Concert’ will get under way on December 21 at Uijeongbu Arts Center’s Grand Theater. The concert will give members of the armed forces from both Korea and the United States as well as local residents a chance to socialize and communicate, as well as to promote friendly relations between the two allied nations through the enjoyment of year-end festivities.
More than 1,000 people from Gyeonggi Province, the 2nd Infantry Division of the Eighth United States Army, and other ROK and US armed forces personnel as well as local residents are expected to attend the concert.
The concert will feature performances from the Eighth United States Army Band, the Uijeongbu City Choir, popular ‘trot’ diva Hong Jin-young, and Sergeant U-Know Yunho (Jeong Yun-ho) – a member of K-Pop sensation TVXQ who currently completing his military service in the 26th ROK Army Band – and offer a wide variety of genres on stage for the audience.
The Eighth United States Army Band will perform some traditional Christmas songs including Deck the Halls, Last Christmas, and more, as well as number of K-Pop songs. The Uijeongbu City Choir will perform Kim Hyo-keun’s Snow and a medley of Christmas carols to help celebrate the Christmas spirit.
Trot diva Hong Jin-young will perform popular songs that everyone, regardless of age or gender, can enjoy. Sergeant U-Know Yunho will sing See Through, You Raise Me Up, and finish up with TVXQ’s hit song MIROTIC to bring the concert to its grand finale.
What makes this concert really special is the fact that it is free! Tickets will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis at the ticket counter located near the Grand Theater Hall on the 1st floor from 5:00pm on the day of the concert.
