To transform the ecological area of the DMZ into a world-famous site, Gyeonggi Province will launch a DMZ-themed global SNS campaign.

The provincial government announced that the SNS campaign “Beyond the DMZ” will begin in April of 2017 to encourage global communication through SNS and share personal stories with photos of the DMZ area.

In accordance with the title, the project is geared to promote a variety of DMZ tourism resources internationally and inspire different perspectives of the DMZ

The winner of the “Half & Half” DMZ photo contest will be able to take the “DMZ Ilwon Tour.” The photos and tour videos of the winner will be used for the promotion of Gyeonggi Province.

The SNS photo contest will collect photos in which two different photos are combined in an expression of hope for peace and reconciliation in the DMZ area, a symbol of a divided country.

Regardless of nationality, all SNS users can participate in the contest by uploading composite photographs that contain landscapes of the DMZ area, relevant hash tags, and messages to their SNS pages. Of particular note, Gyeonggi Province will provide some pictures of the DMZ area online to support the participation of foreigners who have never been in the area.

The winner will be selected after a comprehensive review of the photos for creativity, appropriateness to the theme, possibility of exhibition, and online feedback, and will be awarded prize money along with an opportunity to tour the restricted area of the DMZ.

Gyeonggi Province will open a website for the contest in April and receive photo entries from domestic and foreign SNS users online over a six-week period.
