Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation has announced that it held a palace culture experience trip at Changgyeonggung inviting 26 elementary school students from families living in the Corporation’s public rental houses in conjunction with the Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea for two days from May 23 to 24.
This experience trip was held in conjunction with corporate social reasonability program run by the Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea. Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation has participated in the program from 2012, making 2015 its 4th year. Through continued support and participation, the Corporation is contributing in the effort of providing traditional cultural experiences to members of our society without ready access to cultural activities.
In April of this year, the Corporation held ‘My Home, Writing and Art Competition’ where elementary school students from families in Corporation’s rental houses took part. 26 prize winners from the competition were invited to the cultural experience trip and took part in overnight stay at Changgyeonggung Tongmyeongjeon, learnt palace courtesies, tried on traditional royal clothes, played traditional games(Seunggyeongdo) and were exposed to many other exciting palace culture activities as well as taking a trip to royal tombs of Chosun Dynasty.
Gyuhun Park, Head of Safety & Technology Support Division at Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation said, “the Corporation will make continued efforts to invite people without ready access to cultural activities and support their participation in various different cultural experiences such as excursions of cultural heritages in Gyeonggido or cultural heritage excavation activities” and added that, “the Corporation will give added assistance for the protection of local cultural heritage by running ‘one-cultural heritage one-keeper scheme'”
