The 9th DMZ International Documentary Film Festival has selected “Documentaries Coming Closer to Citizens” as this year’s slogan and plans to embody it through various programs for the popularization of documentary films.

▲ DMZ Cinema, a Documentary Film Room
Located in the DMZ DOCS Organizing Office (4th floor of Goyang Bus Terminal), DMZ Cinema is a multimedia room where one can view various documentary films at one’s convenience. There are 216 documentaries that have been released in theaters including those screened at previous festivals. The operating hours are from 10:00 to 17:00 on weekdays. Applications can be made at the festival’s official website (www.dmzdocs.com). Those who are unable to visit the cinema can use the documentary DVD rental service.

▲ Documentary Podcast Show “Dynamite Zone”: The uncomfortable truth exposed!
“Dynamite Zone” is a new podcast on the subject of documentary films. Actor Nam Tae-wu, a renowned podcaster, will host the show and have discussions with experts from diverse fields to explore leading issues in Korean society—such as family, labor, education, gender equality and North Korea—that have been dealt with in documentary films. This podcast will be released weekly from August 7 to September 11 through various online channels including YouTube and Facebook.

▲ DMZ Scope, Webzine of DMZ DOCS
For a deeper look into documentaries, DMZ Scope, the web magazine of the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival, is recommended. This publication carries the reader into the world of documentary films with vivid articles by citizen reporters who were selected via an intense competition this past April and who have interacted with the documentary film community. DMZ Scope introduces the documentary world about which readers are curious from the perspective of audience members. One can subscribe to the DMZ Scope webzine via the festival’s official website (www.dmzdocs.com).
