Living in Harmony with the World: Gyeonggi Do Provincial Institute for Lifelong Learning in the Lead to Foster Global Citizens

The 3rd Global Citizen Education Camp, a program that encourages the growth of elementary, middle and high school students from the province as upright global citizens, will be held from December 1 to 2 at the Yangpyeong Camp of the Change Up Campus, a facility operated by the Gyeonggi Do Provincial Institute for Lifelong Learning.

Hosted by the Gyeonggi Do Provincial Institute for Lifelong Learning, the Global Citizen Education Camp provides an opportunity for elementary, middle and high school students to study global issues such as refugees, inequalities, various labor issues and more in greater depth while also learning to the value of acceptance of all genders, race and cultures so as to grow into global citizens.

During this two-day weekend camp, students participate in diverse programs, such as: an acapella group to learn about accepting the individuality of and living in harmony with others; writing letters to oneself, family and friends to learn about the importance of respect; studying manners, cultures and traditions from around the world so as to better understand multiculturalism; and learning about the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and discussing ways to contribute to the realization of these goals in terms of world peace, environmental conservation and human rights.

Participants took part in two previous camps beginning last month, during which they freely communicated with one another about different global issues.
