The Meong-u-ri area is a place where there is a steep and rough road on the cliff around Hantan River so that, from old days, people would warn “not to go there under the influence of alcohol.” It is called Meong-u-ri since people might get bruised (Meong means bruise in Korean) when they are careless and fall down there. The excellent scenery is attributed to the columnar joints well developed along the Hantan River banks, and the ravine is about 4km long.
