Details
Pyeonggang Botanical Garden near Sanjeong Lake is in the valley where a great deal of water is generated as is recognizable from the name of the village, “Wumulmok.” A variety of plants have been thriving in the gardens, which include the Rock Garden, High Moor, Water Lily Garden and Bog Garden, since 1998. These extensive gardens are comprised of 12 themes including Rock Garden with alpine plants, the largest one in the east, Bog Garden restoring natural ecology, Pond Garden for about 50 kinds of lotus, Moss Garden using a natural stream, and Lawn Garden which is always green. The gardens using plants including rhododendron and moss are great places to visit which can’t be found anywhere else in Korea. These gardens have been creating the new culture of botanical gardening as a place for learning nature and ecology as well as preserving rare plants.
