On September 5, Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi FTA Global Business Center (hereinafter the Gyeonggi FTA Center) hosted Indian companies at the Hwaseong Chamber of Commerce and Industry to help Gyeonggi Province companies enter the Indian market.

India signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with South Korea in 2009, which came into effect in January 2010.

At the briefing co-hosted by Gyeonggi Province and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, an lawyer specializing in the field provided guidance on “Indian Corporation Establishment A to Z” to small and medium-sized enterprises in the province that seek to establish themselves in India. The main contents included an overview of the Indian market and business environment, Indian incorporation procedures, India business precautions, and more, as well as a question-and-answer session with Indian lawyers, accountants and other experts.

Amidst a rapidly changing international situation, Gyeonggi Province is promoting various support projects such as the Global Raw Material Supply Line Support Project, Local Corporation Establishment Briefing Session, and Customs Duty Refund Consulting Project through the Gyeonggi FTA Center to help small and medium-sized exporters in the province effectively respond to the management of global value chains (GVCs).

Moon Doo-sik, Director of the International Trade Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, “As global supply chain uncertainties persist, we will make more efforts to support GVC responses so that small and medium-sized exporters in the province do not face difficulties in industrial fields.”

In addition to FTA consulting, the Gyeonggi FTA Center also supports FTA, commerce and trade education as well as briefing sessions, online platform entry support, CPNP-Halal certification, and export consultations for addressing non-tariff barriers.
