Gyeonggi Province will host the Gyeonggi Great Global Transformation Forum for world-renowned scholars and global companies to explore solutions pertaining to artificial intelligence and humanomics.

The Gyeonggi Great Global Transformation Forum is being organized for the first time this year to address global issues that cannot be resolved through conventional approaches and instead require new transformative ideas. Like the Davos Forum, the Gyeonggi Global Forum will adopt a different theme every year, inviting world-renowned scholars and luminaries to reflect on the present and prepare for the future.

The forum will be held on October 24 and 25 at the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) in Goyang City and feature more than 40 global speakers from 15 countries, as well as central and local government officials, representatives of foreign missions in Korea, personnel from international organizations, and global business leaders.

This year’s theme is “AI and Humanomics,” focusing on AI as a global issue and covering the opportunity economy, climate economy, care economy, and peace economy in the AI era.

The forum will feature world-renowned speakers, including “Father of AI” Stuart Russell, Professor of Computer Science at UC Berkeley, and Bart J. Wilson, Professor of Economics and Law at Chapman University, who defined and advanced the concepts and principles of humanomics.

Stuart Russell is the author of Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach, often referred to as the “AI textbook.” It is used as a computer science textbook in over 1,500 universities in 135 countries. Bart Wilson coined the term “humanomics” around 2010 to mean “economics needs the humanities”.

Humanomics is an alternative to overcome the blind spots of conventional economics. It is a political philosophy that aims to address problems caused by conventional economics, such as social inequality and polarization in quantitative growth strategies, by realizing quality of life, individual empowerment and happiness.

Gyeonggi Province Governor Dong Yeon Kim introduced “humanomics” as a core strategy for the Gyeonggi provincial administration in his policy speech to the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly in February, and on August 14 announced key tasks for the second half of his term based on humanomics.

Gyeonggi Province expects the forum to be an important step in establishing its role as a global leader and promoting the image of Gyeonggi Province as a principal human-centered AI provider to the international community by presenting a sustainable vision for the future.
