To improve public health services, Gyeonggi-do plans to invest 45.1 billion Won till 2006 to modernize old health centers.
First, the province will invest 5.6 billion Won to reconstruct or newly build 9 public health centers, branches and clinics, and also supplement medical equipment.
For the management innovation of medical staff, 158.7 billion Won will be invested for the next 6 years to improve operation systems, specialization, and other management strategies.
In addition, user-centered services such as traveling clinics, cancer examination, call health aid will be expanded by establishing a coordinate system between public health organizations. Also, to prepare for the aging society, plans for senior hospitals will be promoted.
After the modernization of 31 health facilities last year, 35 centers for 2003, 39 for 2006 will be modernized also.
Current free cancer examination will be extended from three types to four next year, and then to five in 2006. Senior hospitals will be expanded from two to four with the capacity of 600 sickbeds until the year 2006.
