Due to the number of North Korean refugees exceeding capacity limits, Korea and China has temporarily suspended civil affairs administrations on and after Oct. 7. Negotiations on resuming visa issuing have started and the suspension is expected to resolve soon.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhang Qiyue has expressed regrets onto the suspension during the regular briefing on Oct. 9.
Zhang informed that negotiations between the two countries to resolve the suspension have started.
In relation to the negotiation, a spokesman of the Korean Embassy at China optimistically said, “Negotiations have already started between the two countries. Both countries will soon reach an agreement and the matter will be successfully settled.”
In addition, applications for visas accepted before the temporary suspension started will not be affected and will be issued as planned. No complaints from Chinese citizens have been reported yet.
