The largest design distribution industrial complex will be set up within the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX), which is currently under construction in Ilsan City. 

Goyang City, Gyeonggi-do has chosen a proposition submitted by Rhea Co., to develop an international culture complex such as a design distribution complex on May 16. 

According to the proposal, Asia’s largest design gallery type shopping mall (48,000 pyeong), children’s museum (3,000 pyeong), design industrial museum and a variety of culture and shopping facilities will be created. In addition, world-famous brands and international homeware companies will be induced to set their Asia headquarters in Korea. 

Also an international industrial design school will be jointly established with a Swiss national university. 12 companies from 8 countries including the Netherlands founded company Rhea last year March, and its Korean branch was organized in December of last year. 

An official from Goyang-si quoted, “The design distribution industrial complex is expected to boost the lagging employment by making jobs for about 40 thousand.”
