From December 13, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government will provide online virtual reality (VR) content to enable disabled individuals and the elderly to examine tourist attractions and accommodations before visiting.

This content can be found under the “Travel Information” menu of the Barrier-free Gyeonggi Tourism website (bf.ggtour.or.kr). This section introduces 60 tourist attractions and 20 accommodation facilities in the province, including Dumulmeori in Yangpyeong County, where VR functionality has been installed.

A user can select a thumbnail at the bottom of the screen to move to the desired location and also enjoy panoramic views of attractions through “aerial VR” filmed with drones.

In addition, users can listen to introductions and explanations of some of the attractions thanks to an audio guide feature, and can also view a guided video of routes to rooms, parking lots, and restrooms at some accommodations.

Moreover, the locations of major tourist spots and amenities near attractions and accommodations are indicated with subtitles and pictograms so as to help users easily determine where they are located.

Choi Yong-hun, Director of the Gyeonggi Province’s Tourism Division, stated, “We hope that barrier-free VR content will provide practical assistance to those with disabilities who wish to visit tourist attractions and accommodations. We will do our best to establish a barrier-free environment for Gyeonggi travels.”
