2017 Hanmadang Festival for Harmony for Foreign and Korean Residents

The Hanmadang Festival for Harmony will be held at Ansan Culture Square from 12:30 to 16:30 on Sunday, October 29.

The festival was organized to improve the awareness of multicultural residents, promote understanding of cultural diversity, and provide a space for foreign and Korean residents to communicate. The festival is comprised of a variety of programs including traditional dance performances and multicultural experiences.

This festival, which is held under the theme of “Multicultural and harmonious society,” is open to anyone who wants to enjoy exciting performances and experience various cultures of the world.

The pre-ceremony performances include b-boy dance and “Nanta” performances; during the opening ceremony, attendees will fly paper airplanes together.

The opening ceremony will be followed by various performances for harmony between local residents and multicultural residents. Included in the performances are the Korean traditional percussion band of the Gyeonggi Arts Center, traditional Vietnamese and Mongolian dances, b-boy dance, magic and singing performances. The Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency PR Division, to which Xia Junsu, Kim Hyung-jun of SS501 and Kim Kwang-soo of Supernova belong, will also put on a performance. At the World Costume Experience Zone, visitors can try on clothes of different countries and take commemorative photos.

There will also be a booth that provides counseling on laws, employment permit systems, resume writing, and job searches for foreign workers, as well as health exams. This service is available to anyone.

As a space where people meet and experience various cultures, the festival is expected to attract many people this year and provide them with a chance to learn about and enjoy different cultures.
