Detail View

The shrine was built in Okgeum-dong, Gasan-myeon by the will of Confucian scholars in Pocheon in the 9th year of King Injo’s reign. The ancestral tablet for Yi Hangbok was enshrined. It was named “Baeksa Seowon.” It was moved to a location under Mt. Hwabong in 1635. The charter “Hwasan” was issued by King Hyojong in 1659 (10th year of King Hyojong’s reign), which quoted the district name “Kkotmoe (meaning flower mountain).” It was destroyed by the order of Daewongun (prince regent) to abolish the private academies in 1868 (5th year of King Gojong’s reign) and his ancestral tablet was buried. Indeokjeon, the shrine, was restored by Confucian scholars in Pocheon in 1971. And Donggangjae, Pilwunjae, Jang, the main and inner gates and Hongsalmun (gate) were restored in succession.
